Do you need a permit in Greensboro?

On your own driveway or private lot we found no City permit requirement (A-1 Service Group says the same).

The City requires a lane-closure permit whenever part of a sidewalk or street is blocked in a way that alters traffic flow, affects parking or alters pedestrian patterns. Apply and pay at least 24 hours before; applications and payment are online.

Fees published by the City: $15 application fee for new permits (not extensions). Other city streets $10 per day per lane (non-peak); major thoroughfares $35 per day per lane (non-peak). In the central business district (CBD), sidewalks are $10 per day and parking spaces/loading zones $15 per day per space; the City lists a separate rate of $2 per day per sidewalk/shoulder and $2 per day per on-street parking space or loading zone.

Peak-hour closures (7-9am and 4-6pm weekdays) are not permitted without special approval. Questions: 336-373-CITY (2489).
